Water Bomber Pack
Process
Educational Design Project
This is a conceptual project intended to raise funds for wildfire prevention in Canada through proceeds from a line of commemorative beer cans. The craft beer line, the Water Bomber Pack, is themed around the Canadian water bomber, the Hawaii Mars, and donates its proceeds to the Canadian Wildfire Fund, a branch of the Canadian Red Cross.
I chose to focus on the positive and work with the image of the Hawaii Mars as a symbol of fire safety because of its cultural relevance and recognizability. The decision to make the product a beer line was to connect it with a passionate community that cares about their local environment and make supporting this cause feel more like a treat than a chore.
I used the story of the Hawaii Mars to guide the product design. The beer styles in the pack, Horizon Smoky Porter, Fire Line Red Ale, and Water Bomber IPA, could represent the story of the Hawaii Mars from construction to retirement. Alternatively, they could symbolize a successful firefighting mission.
