The Ghost Machine
Magazine Article
Process
I was asked to format an article in the style of Maclean’s magazine (for non-commercial purposes), complete with visual content. The Ghost Machine is an article about the potential human experiences that could be found in VR technology, things like empathy and self-awareness.
For the images, we settled on a burnt orange and turquoise palette, as those colours seemed to drive home the mix of passion and thoughtfulness that was so present in the article. Next, I began cutting apart and rearranging images into collage-like compositions. We wanted visuals that seemed both dynamic and dream-like to represent the dualism between cool tech and warm human experiences.
